    Hi

I have followed the user guide here
Developing an Extra in MODX Revolution
    http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/case-studies-and-tutorials/developing-an-extra-in-modx-revolution/developing-an-extra-in-modx-revolution,-part-ii
And I have created a custom component, and have been able to add multiple text fields.

What I need to add is a field that is a link to an image file, so I need the wee modx file browser button to appear beside the form fiedd when adding/editing. (just like a file type TV would behave)

I'm guessing it is about updating doodles.grid.js with an appropriate xtype, but I cannot find a tutorial on this anywhere.
Does anyone know if there is there a way to do this?

    thanks

    Ian.

you could try to build your CMP with help of MIGXdb
Than you can use any or most TV-input-types, also custom-TV-input-types like MIGX-TVs or others for input-fields.
        -------------------------------

you can buy me a beer, if you like MIGX

        Thanks!

        Hi Bruno17

        Many thanks for the help.
I hadn't come across your MIGX system before; I wish I'd known about it sooner rather than getting my hands dirty with the manual component creation process smiley

I've just run a wee experiment with your MIGX system and it works really well; I've successfully managed to create a field with Input TV type: file and it works exactly as I needed it to.

        thanks

        Ian.

          Hi Bruno,

Could I please ask a further question about MIGx?
          - I have a problem with "Error! Access Denied" being shown to my editor restricted user accounts for a MIGXdb component I have created.

To explain what I have built...

I have created a MIGXdb component and it is working absolutely fine, using Rev 2.3 with the menu item sitting under the Extras menu folder.
I used the Doodles tutorial to follow. The only part that was a little different due to me now using Rev 2.3 was the last part.
          http://rtfm.modx.com/extras/revo/migxdb/migxdb.tutorials/migxdb.create-doodles-manager-with-help-of-migxdb
"Create a menu to your CMP"

          • action: index (instead of migx-index)
          • namespace: migx (instead of core)

I needed to lock down access to editor users for many items in the back end so I wanted the Extras drop down to only have the new MIGXdb item I have created.
          To achieve this:
          - I updated the Access Policy for my editors and ticked "components" to let them see the "Extras" drop down.
          - Then on every item inside "Extras" I have added "access_permissions" to the permissions to hide individual items that I do not want them to have access to e.g. the Installer, and MIGX (following advice from here http://blog.arvixe.com/hiding-modx-top-menu-items-from-some-users/)

This all works fine and the only item that shows to my editors in the Extras drop down is the MIXdb item I have created.

However when clicked on there is an error shown "Error! Access Denied"

I have not set any permission restrictions on this item.

Would you be able to advise what I have done wrong and how I can give access to the MIGXdb item to my editors.

          many thanks

          Ian.

p.s. LOVING MIGX - I have created many TVS using this system now and they work great. This is my first attempt at using MIGX in the db way and it's all fine except the permissions issue.
