An interesting request.
We have 2 sites for a client and they would like any user created in either of these systems to then allow login to the other. One site is an older revo and the new site is a brand new 2.2.14 install.
Has anyone ever created an external user database or used an external user API in order to allow access to modx for a user? I'm trying to avoid needing to merge the 2 sites together into contexts as they are so far apart in their build structure and architecture. I'm also trying to avoid any manual sync of user accounts or anything like that cause that will cause me a world of hurt.
I know this would more than likely require some custom auto user creation (similar to an auto facebook login or some such thing), but does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how I could tie 2 modx user databases together somehow and merge them into a single database.
why not different contexts for each site?
Mainly because I want a system that could work from multiple servers and even domains using a common user api of some sort.
I think I'll need to invent an auto user create login type system and custom user api to do what I need.
It is not practical for me to merge these two sites together into one modx install either (too much work).
