    Hi all,
I’m trying to find the cause of a problem that my client has explained to me. I have suspicions that there is no problem and that the client is not using the manager properly, but I would like to make sure first!

My client claims that when using the published date calendar popup, and choosing today as the date and then saving the document, that the document remains unpublished. The client is in the US, I am in Hong Kong, so we are in different timezones - could there be a mix up between the clients PC timezone and the server timezone? Personally, I have never experienced this problem, and when providing a walk through over the phone, the problem doesn’t seem to exist, but my client is still complaining. This is the only possible explanation I can think of but if anyone else can help it would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Most likely a server vs. user time zone issue. The way to it is to display the server time using a php time() or date() function. I think that there is a way to offset the server time if needed in the modx manager.

Yes, this can be a problem, especially if there is a large gap between the server and the user.

The timezone offset is set in the Configuration in the first tab.

Great thanks for the response guys.

Would I be right in thinking that instead of changing the server offset time I could ask the users to set their PC time to the server time? Problem is, there are a bunch of editors spread across the world, so changing the server offset time would fix it for one user, but break it for another.

It would be better to have the users be aware of their offset and set the publish/unpublish dates accordingly. Setting their computer time can have unexpected effects on their own systems.
