    I have a revo site on a testing domain (as a subdomain of a domain I own) that we are now ready to put live (on the clients proper domain) with different hosting company.

    In real idiot proof terms, can anyone please guide me on how to move the site over as I'm getting stuck and dont understand the documentation Ive found.

    Do I need to install MODx on the clients server first, or do I just move files and database over?

    Please help.

    Thanks
    John

      I think this is what you want: http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/administering-your-site/moving-your-site-to-a-new-server (assuming that you're using MODX Revolution).

        Hi,

        Yes I'd seen this before but I got a little confused with a couple of parts.

        Where it mentions about changing the values here...

        $modx_core_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/core/';
        $modx_processors_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/core/model/modx/processors/';
        $modx_connectors_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/connectors/';
        $modx_manager_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/manager/';
        $modx_base_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/';
        $modx_assets_path= '/path/to/modx_doc_root/assets/';

        I'm not putting the installation into a subfolder or anything so do I just change the paths to this?

        $modx_core_path= '/core/';
        $modx_processors_path= '/core/model/modx/processors/';
        $modx_connectors_path= '/connectors/';
        $modx_manager_path= '/manager/';
        $modx_base_path= '/';
        $modx_assets_path= '/assets/';

          You will need the full path for them.
          something like:
          /var/www/vhosts/yoursite.com/httpdocs/connectors/

            OK, I think I get it.

            I'll try again. Thanks

              Running setup in upgrade mode at the new site should straighten out the paths for you.

              If you do end up setting them manually, don't forget to check the URLs in addition to the paths.

              BTW, SiteCheck will check all of them for you to make sure they are valid. http://bobsguides.com/sitecheck-promo.html. It's not free, but it's nice to have around for testing the integrity of your site.
