Greetings all! A portion of a site I’m moving to modx requires a way to manage news-type content. I know modx can do it and the use of ditto will be involved for aggregation and display. There are a couple of data fields that are not available in the core that I need to add some way:
author (not a modx-managed author);
source (e.g., news paper name, journal name, etc.); and
insertion date (which may be different than the publish date).
My hunch is that this will involve creating a TV of some sort. I’m curious though, what opinions may be on the best way to tackle this and if it’s possible for these fields to be visually grouped among the core fields (title, long title, etc.).
Cheers,
Jim

I’d create three template variables (TVs), one for each. They will show up in the document editor below the content in the TV section. As far as I know, that isn’t adjustable.

I could be totally wrong.
Thanks for the quick response jaredc. Can I assume that fields created in the TV(s) are addressable via Ditto?

Yes. With your TV name as a placeholder i.e. [+author+].
