Is it correct that if a user doesn’t have access to a particular document, then he can’t access any of its children, no matter what permissions these have?
If so, any way around this?
Thanks!

No, you’ll need to assign all the documents to the appropriate document group to protect them. You can do this easily with the docmanager module that is installed in the 0.9.6.x core installations.
thanks - is there a way to automatically assign new pages created at this level to the same group?
I think I explained myself badly - what I want is for a user to be able to edit child pages, but not the parent. I set the child pages to be part of the group they can edit, but when I take the parent out of that group, they can no longer see the children.
What I’m trying to achieve is a page with a ditto list, and the child pages contain the TVs that make up the content for the ditto list. I want them to be able to add new items for the list, but not screw up the ditto code in the parent page.

There is a plugin for that... or a patch? I don’t remember exactly right at the moment, but there is a way to do that somewhere around here.
