I've read through several forum posts and a couple articles about migrating from Wordpress to ModX Articles and I'm left with a very basic question unanswered: What about categories??

This article (http://modx.com/learn/modx-college/migrating-from-wordpress/) makes the migration sound as simple as a couple button clicks. It makes no mention of categories, however, and since I've never been to a WP blog that doesn't incorporate this most fundamental aspect of its taxonomy, its kind of silly to publish this article as-is (no offense to the author, but...really?).

Anyone have insight on whether the migration process in this article will account for categories? If not, has the procedure for doing so been documented?

    Thanks

I'm just guessing, but I would say no, since AFAIK Articles doesn't have any built-in way to handle true categories. I could be wrong.

Looking at the import code, it appears that Articles converts the WordPress categories into Articles tags.

Thanks for this - very helpful. Hopefully future iterations of Articles and / or ModX will be better equipped for this migration. Given the mindshare and adoption that Wordpress has achieve, this seems it should be a roadmap priority.
