This was working at one time. . . I even showed my customer how to use this to edit their content pages so I know it was working. Now, I’ve apparently changed something.

When I try to insert an image using TinyMCE the image browser I can’t see any of the images in the assets/Images/ folder--the folder is just empty. I’ve confirmed there are images in the assets folder via cPanel.

If I try to upload a jpeg image, I receive a message "disallowed file type".

MODx Tools-->Configuration-->User Interface & Featrures tells me:

    Enable Resource Browser: yes
    Resource path: /home/terrybar/public_html/JohnD/assets/
    URL: assets/
    Uploadable image types: jpg,jpeg,png,gif,psd,ico,bmp

    cPanel tells me

    Path: /home/terrybar/public_html/JohnD/assets

Under WebSecurity-->Manager Users-->Admin-->user settings: all the uploadable file type fields are blank and the path & URL fields are blank and there is no checkbox in the Use System configuration settings. I’ve tried checking the boxes or entering the pathnames but no change.

    MODX ver 9.6.1
    TinyMCI 2.1.2

Can someone help me figure how to get this working again?

    Thank you!

One of the first thing I would check is if the user settings don’t override the general settings, it’s known to have happened tongue

The second thing I’d check is no images in assets/images has weird illegal characters such as accents, spaces... etc. It also tend to screw up things and I remember being unable to see images with the resource browser, while I knew that they were here...

If none of the above, then it will mean some digging but check those first... hope it helps...

davidm, thanks for the quick response!

Since I haven’t specfied anything in the user settings, can I assume the config settings are running the show?

I checked the file names. I found some image files that I uploaded that had underscores in the name. I deleted those files. I also noticed there are thumb_filenames there as well. I believe those came from Maxigallery images that I uploaded. Could it be that I can’t use the same image file for the content areas and Maxigallery?

Any thoughts on the disallowed file types?

          Indeed they should.

underscore are no problem, this wasn’t related to those files.

The .thumb filenames are not from MaxiGallery but from the resource browser thumbnails.

And it’s not related to the fact you use the images for several purpose.

The disallowed filetype would make sense only if it was not an allowed media type in the configuration but since you have jpeg and jpg in there it has to be something else (but check user preferences nevertheless).

I can’t see why it would happen...

Hmmm. . . back to the drawing board. I’m going to have to figure this out.

Do check the individual users (in their User tab) to make sure the "use system default" box is checked.

We had the blank image resource and "Disallowed File Type" -problem on two sites (MODx 0.9.6.1) with about 10 manager accounts. One account (the third one!) on both sites had this problem. The accounts were assigned a limited manager user role, which had special character in its name (Finnish ä).

We tried these out, none worked and the problem remained:

                • checked resource paths
                • checked allowed file types
                • set user preferences to use system defaults
                • assigned the account back to administrator role
                • removed the special char from limited role’s name and assigned it back to the account
                • overwrote manager files with pristine copies

We briefly checked the database tables for oddities; found none. The only but not quite the optimal solution was to create a new account, keeping and renaming the problematic account and disabling it. The new account worked fine, also when assigned to the limited role.

After these incidents, we have installed a couple of sites from same packages to same and different servers, with no problems - the only difference not using special characters on manager user role’s name. Don’t know if this was the real reason for the problem.

                  Hi Terry,

Delete the entire TinyMCE folder on ur server.
Upload the entire TinyMCE folder again.

I had the excat problem u described and this resolved it. Im told there is another content browser coming out with the next version. Figers crossed wink

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. I checked the use system defaults check box in the user settings. I’m certain I did this yesterday to no affect. However, today I tried again and voila! I’m good to go.
