    Hi,

Let me first say that I am seriously considering moving the website that I manage for my day job over to MODx from Mambo. I am very impressed for all the obvious reasons. I can see the fantastic potential.

At the risk of potentially being castigated for "not reading the forums" (I have searched and searched.. cannot seem to find my specific issue, although I suspect "rewrite base" will be in someone’s reply), I have to ask for some help. grin

I can no longer install other PHP based systems in my HTTP root now that MODx has been installed (it’s even in its OWN directory on the root). I am trying to install an email distribution system called Pommo. When I try to direct to the install path for Pommo (http://localhost:8888/pommo/install), the MODx installer jumps in with the error "MODx is not currently installed or the configuration file cannot be found." with a "Next" button leading to the standard MODx installer page (even displaying a path that those MODx pages cannot possibly exist in!). Again, this is a directory that has nothing to do with MODx, but was added after the MODx install.

I get the error even if I implicitly point to the pommo installer at http://localhost:8888/pommo/install/index.php. In fact, if I create an any directory at all, I get the MODx error.

I removed the entire MODx directory, thinking this prerogative would go away. It remains even after the directory is gone. Caching? Apache config? WTH?

Ultimately, these two systems need to live on the same HTTP server.

    Here are the tech specs:

OS X Tiger running MAMP 1.7.x.
    Set to PHP5 w/ Zend.
    Web root is <localdrive>/Applications/MAMP/htdocs
    MODx install: <localdrive>/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/MODx
Attempted Pommo install: <localdrive>/Applications/MAMP/htdocs/Pommo (I have this successfully deployed on other PHP servers)
    Apache on port 8888
    MySQL on port 8889

The only mention of rewrite config (I think it’s the default stuff): Although I will confess to virtual total rewrite base configuration ignorance, I will share with you this code snippet from the httpd.conf file from <localdrive>/Applications/MAMP/Conf/Apache:

    LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

and this from php.ini in <localdrive>/Applications/MAMP/Conf/PHP5:

    url_rewriter.tags = "a=href,area=href,frame=src,input=src,form=,fieldset="

.htaccess is not in place in the MODx directory.

    Friendly URL’s are OFF.

    Any hints?

    Thanks in advance!

Is there some kind of .htaccess in place in your web root?

Thanks for getting back so quick. No, no .htaccess in the root. In fact, I searched the whole HDD, and only found one that was in the PHPMyAdmin sub.

Dumb question but did you check that the Finder is set up to show system files ?
.htaccess will not show up if you don’t...

Sorry, I read too fast it seems you found one htaccess (named .htaccess and not _htaccess or ht.access ?).

Is it possible that there is a copy of the MODx index.php file in your webroot or that the index.php file is missing from your Pommo? Is it possible you added MODx dir to your vhosts entry in your apache config file and made an error on the path or deleted the entry for root?

These are all just guesses though. Who knows. I’d do a reinstall of the Pommo files and check your apache httpd.conf or httpd-vhosts file for vhosts or location entries that might bugger your root.
