Coming back to MODX Revo

Hi Just wanted to say, its been a while since Ive been here, and after coming out of a fulltime web development role and going back to freelance, I thought I would take a little bit of time to look at how the CMS market is.

Despite having my head turned by Wordpress (that is a relationship that didnt last long!) - Im back with Modx Revolution. Built a commercial website in MOdx Revolution as a freelancer in under four days, built on the Twitter bootstrap plugin, and ported their design on to it.

I have to say, it was an absolute breeze to do it, and putting together all the plugins and making it work was a real pleasure - I was smiling at how simple it was - and thats after weeks of frustration with other solutions.

The design agency was very pleased with it too.

So thanks Modx for being there - still an excellent project / product after all these years, and Im looking forward to working with you all over again!

It is very nice that you share these thoughts and experience with us, appreciate it =)! For me it would also be interesting what you especially like about MODX compared to others and what others may do better than MODX, so we (and hopefully you) can improve the system we love even more...I think any experience, no matter if good or bad has its take-aways and they shouldn't be lost in "only" your memory and be made explicit as long as they are fresh! so if you find time, please share with as the pros and cons of the different platforms you were able to gain experience with and maybe relate them to MODx if possible =)!

What is a handicap of ModX now, in comparison to WP & Drupal:
- a solid and fully automated visual online form builder & management system
- "in-text-editing". Just hovering over the real site, and clicking on a "pen" to edit text or image (like Drupal panels)
- a pre-build arsenal of re-usable code-reservoirs:
--> a bootstrap slider, with less than 20sec to config
--> an automated "TV-generator", based on some clicks. Or just pressing right mouse button in the code "add quick TV here with dropdown"
--> an online community library, with alle commonly used code-combo's easily searchable and copy-pasted
--> something which looks like "Drupal Views" !
--> an advanced Calendar and event-module, fully automated and out-of-the box
--> an online video-library, may be for a monthly cost, with advanced Tutorials (like "Drupalize me")
--> an extensive library with pre-build, empty templates (like bootstrap with banner, etc). With a drag-and-drop functionality, it preconfigures


But don't get me wrong, I love ModX ! Drupal has definitely caused lots of bug-suicides, and it lives on its "Golden Bug Hammer": with Acquia platform, big companies pay 2500€ for having 4 bugs fixed. So why would you remove al those Golde Bugs ?
