Is there a way a user can add a new page without logging into the Admin panel?
I was trying to get something working with Ditto, but it’s not documented well enough for me to figure it out (glad to see I’m not the only one and that a book idea is underway to clarify this).
Ever used WordPress? WordPress allows users to easily add new pages based on templates. That’s what I’d like to do, basically. The difference is WordPress’s admin section is simple. MODx’s is not simple enough for the average client. However, I can’t use WordPress because I want to them to be able to add page content within a page... that’s why I was futzing around with Ditto.

Ditto is for display, it has nothing to do with creation or editing.
Check out the NewsManager snippet set. I believe it allows the specified users the ability to create new documents as well as edit existing ones.

Oh thank fork there is an alternative to Ditto! And thank you for telling me!
... and oh great even less documentation... :’(
How do I define the folder as per:
[!NewsEditor &folder=`<your news folder ID>` &postid=`<id of page with NewsManager snippet>` !]
Does that have any advantage over NewsPublisher?

At least NewsPublisher is well-documented and I don’t immediately run into the problem of "creating a new ’folder’" (whatever that is).

A "folder" is simply a document with children. A container document, if you prefer. The term "folder" comes from the graphical interface that depicts directories or any other containers as cute little folders. But since a "folder" document is no different from any other document, it’s really not an appropriate image to use for them. The document tree is merely a convenience so we can more easily visualize our site structure and how its menus can be laid out.
