    Hi,

I'm doing a quote for a client and I need to include a Business/information directory. Has anyone done anything like this that they would be able to share?

I've done something similar, but just with normal resources, several Template Variables, and advanced search (http://www.trailslesstravelled.co.nz/). From a front end point of view, this is kind of similar to what I need (obviously with a different design) but from a back end point of view, I think it would be better to create a Custom Resource Type as this directory may end up with thousands of entries and i don't want the use of too many TVs to slow things down. Custom Resource Types are beyond my skillset.

This wordpress plugin seems similar to what I need, though it has more features that what I need. http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/features/

So, i'm lookinf for someone who's done something similar, or doing it, or would like to collaborate for $$.

    thanks

While I can't directly address your purpose, this comes to mind if you want to try custom resource types http://bobsguides.com/classextender-class.html

Extending modResource would give you *much* faster searches. ClassExtender will do much of the work for you and includes a snippet called getExtResources that is similar to getResources, but it won't handle TVs without some custom coding (it assumes that you've moved all the extra fields into the custom table).
