I want a page to display a list of customer testimonials, and have the template dictate the formatting. Thus I want the web site manager to simply enter the data into a list of fields - e.g. "Quote" and "who said it", and then have the page pull that data in and format it.
How should I best go about this? Is this what TVs are for?
This would equally apply to a staff listing, client list, portfolio, etc.
Also, once achieved, is there a way to randomly change the sort-order with each page view, and also have a maximum limit to how many records are shown ?
Thanks!
thanks for the quick reply, and you have a beautiful site!
If I’m using TVs, does that mean I have to manually set the total number of entries the manager can put in (by creating a TV for each one,) or am I still not getting it?
I wish there were some more comprehensive documentation...

You can put in any number of entries you want. You use the Ditto parameters to tell it how many to output on your front end. TVs are the equivalent of custom content fields, in your case, author and quote.
The Manager doesn’t alter it’s behavior based on the number of TVs, unless you write a custom plugin to make it do so. The Manager is used for controlling the site and creating/editing content.

But each testimonial has to go on one MODx document right...
so one TV, multiple documents & then Ditto to agreggate.
