Changing a homepage title tag in version 1.0.8

I've been advised to change the wording of my homepage title tag, for SEO reasons. I [i]think[i] this is the wording that appears at the top of the site tree, and also, when I edit the homepage, as the 'resource parent', but so far I've found no way of editing it - any suggestions gratefully received.

That depends on what you mean. There is the site_name, which is in the System Settings - [(site_name)]. Then there is the "pagetitle" or perhaps the "longtitle" field of the home page resource, [*pagetitle*] or [*longtitle*].

Thanks a lot, it was the site_name I was searching for, have now found and updated it in the system settings.
