SQL Snapshot.

I have started to install MIGX and it has told me to take a database snapshot. I am very out of my depth!

I went into my phpadmin and ran this query?

CREATE DATABASE pawsforwildlife1305_db525644131 ON (

NAME = pawsforwildlife1305_Data,
FILENAME = 'C:\Program Files\Pawsforwildlife\revolution\pawsforwildlife1305.ss'
) AS SNAPSHOT OF pawsforwildlife1305

and it came back with an error. The C: drive location specified (i made one up as thought that would be where the file saved). I don't quite understand what I am doing wrong. I am with 1and1. Can someone please let me know how to correctly create a snapshot?

In phpMyAdmin, all you need to do is go to the Export tab. Make sure all of the tables are selected, export to a file, and check any other options you want. I usually use "drop table", since if I'm restoring I want everything removed and the backup loaded instead.

Usually it shouldn't break anything, but its not a bad idea to take database snapshots from time to time, especially before installing/upgrading addons, which add/modify some tables.

Thank you Sottwell. I have no experience of SQL other than the fantastic tutorials I have followed, so was wary of exporting anything! In the end I did just push through with MIGX as the site is new and there are not many entries on the database. But I will take snap shots as suggested Bruno.
