    Dear community,

due to using wayfinder for a more challenging navigation Im having my first contact with placeholder. (Which I tried to avoid until now, because I dont understand the concept)

Is there an article oder documenation about placeholders and how to use them? Or is there someone able to explain it in a few words?

Right now Im trying to anatomize some wayfinder examples, but the last penny hasn’t dropped yet.

There are a lot of different types of placeholders in MODx. In snippet chunks they are identified with [+ +] tags.

In a wayfinder template you generally use a placehorder to represent a piece of content retrieved from the document when the menu is being built by WayFinder. WayFinder works with two types of placeholders, the ones native to WF which are identified with the [+wf.placeholder+] syntax. Wayfinder has native placeholders for all the standard parts needed for most menus (title, link text, document id,...), however you can also access all the remaining document and template variables with the standard [+variable+] syntax.

Go to http://www.muddydogpaws.com/development/wayfinder/parameters.html and scroll down to the template section to see examples of how to use placeholders in WayFinder.
