Latest comments widget

Hi, I have recently been using the Articles package with Modx Revo 2.2. I have set up the articles and added the latest posts widget and all is fine. I have also added the latest comments widget as follows:

      <h3>Latest Posts</h3>
      <ul>
      [[+latest_posts]]
      </ul>
    </div>

    <div class="sidemenu">
[[+comments_enabled:is=`1`:then=`
  <h3>Latest Comments</h3>
  <ul>
  [[+latest_comments]]
  </ul>
`]]
</div>

The 'Latest Posts' is working fine, and updates no problem, but the 'Latest Comments' is blank even though I have added a comment and that comment appears on the comments tab in the article container. My Quip call on the template is:

I can't figure out why the comments don't appear?
