Great news. Some of the clients I get who have already bought a hosting plan have got Joomla as the default option (and sometimes Wordpress, which is great out of the box as a blog application but it too much work, I find, to make it into a CMS. Recently, I asked the people at dotEasy if I was permitted to install MODx as an alternative to Joomla and they said that was fine, much to my relief. This particular person hadn’t heard of it but hopefully the more the word gets out, the more it’ll be another endorsed option.

                    Exactly !

We are currently building the french website (modxcms.fr) and we’re giving a lot of thoughts about this. We need to communicate towards partners and hosting companies which are one of the targets.

In France, it’s going to be much easier, as there are much fewer hosting companies than in the US or UK for instance. We’re brainstorming about ways to communicate better with clients : businesses and public sector alike. I have recently launched forums @modxcms.fr, which are not support forums (which will always remain here by the way) but "feedback" and business forums.

Companies can post commercial Inquiries & bounties, ask questions to MODx professionnals, , publish testimonies and there will probably be more to come. All those infos will then feed the website to build the best showcase possible for those who are looking for a content management system / framework:

                    • to business
                    • to designers and coders
                    • and to a lesser extent, to end users

We’re not a week into this that we are already getting very interresting feeback (actually from one of my clients, pseudo is aspeum on the forums here) - this is an improved google translation of this post in french :

When I started looking for what CMS choose for my site, I had great difficulty to decide which one to pick. Each CMS has a specific technical terms, which makes comparisons difficult. And the marketing sites are often too technical.

In the end, I realize that my criteria were:

Could I do what I have in mind for my website with this CMS?

=> suggested content for the modxcms.fr website : to present a wide range of websites built with MODx, illustrating MODx features but also showing which people have chosen it. If I am a mayor, I would be reassured to see that other public facilities have chosen MODx.

Will this CMS exist in 2 years?
I do not want to develop a website with a CMS that will no longer be improved in the future ...
=> suggested content for the modxcms.fr website : publish key figures on the community around MODx, relate the MODx history, highlight the the award received recently.

Is this CMS is known among professionals?

If I have to find a provider to achieve my site, complete or update it, I want to find easily, and even have a choice. To be honest, after choosing MODx and starting working on it with David, I was a little concerned that all my other providers (hosting, developer, computer, etc.) had never heard of it...

As you can see the fact that the host didn’t know the app was a turn off (hopefully, I have been able to convince them to use MODx and we’re launching this website wednesday by the way).

Hopefully as more and more host package MODx into pre-install offers, this will improve for us !
