Description of Problem: I'm trying to instal MODx revolution on MAMP. When I try to connect MODx to database it works, but when I click "Create or test selection of your database" (I attached screenshot).
Steps to Reproduce:
Expected Outcome:
[ul]
[*]MODX Version: 2.2.14
[*]PHP Version: 5.5.3
[*]Database (MySQL, SQL Server, etc) Version: 5.5.33
[*]Additional Server Info:
[*]Installed MODX Add-ons: none
I'm new to MODx. Don't know what to do? Please help.
@ej1982 did you manually change the collation and charset of the database in the MODX Installer? If I recall correctly MAMP uses the installed default charset and collation which is set to Latin1. I think you'd need to alter the default charset and collation in order for you to be able to use UTF-8 as I've done that on many an install over the years. I believe this the solution I used:

I found this also good

Thank you for replies guys. Done what you suggested and nothing changed. Ny more Ideas?
EJ, can you upload a screen shot of that red error message you were getting at the very end of the installation process when you were trying to install on your VPS hosting (before you went for MAMP)? That might still be worth looking at by the others as well.
