I finally got ModX up and running, now I am adding content to my site.

I am at the point where I want some pages to be accessible ONLY to people that register, and verify via email etc...

I know i need a web logon snippet, but I dont know anything else about it. Where can I read from very basic introductory level... most of the information I find is very difficult to descramble I am new to this.

I want to add that my first concern is XXS attacks. the weblogon snippet that modx seems to have come with is from 2004, I am not sure if this is the code that would be responsible for allowing a scripting attack to ruin things on my end.

I understand how the permissions work, my problem is just the code, and the mailing system. I dont know how to integrate mail into my website, how to cause it to send a mail, or how what goes in it.

I am also lost as to the login code. I know a snippet runs the code in either a template variable or the template somwhere, but there are also documents with register user / forgot username etc... I dont understand how this all ties in do I need a single snippet or multiple snippets where would that info be and how do I protect myself from xxs in the log-on window how do I know something is updated enough?

I must be searching the wrong things in your modxwiki

thanks rthrash, thats what Ive been looking for. there should be a link to that on the modx when you install it. Maybe there is, I just missed it.

You might want to peek at http://modxcms.com/documentation.html, specifically the Admin section covering Webusers.
