FileDir snippet Blank screen/not working at all

I get a blank screen when I'm loading a page with the FileDir snippet.
This only occurs with the newest version of FileDir and not the older one.
The older one works fine, but doesn't support sorting files by name..

I'm testing on a fresh/clean MODX installation MODX Revolution 2.2.14-pl (advanced)
PHP Version 5.2.17

The getExtension() method requires at least PHP 5.3.6, so I'm afraid you'll have to either upgrade PHP or use the old version of FileDir.
