    Hi,

    I have a couple of sites build in Revolution.
    One of them uses Login for members.

    The way it works now;

    A member fills a form with some member details, this is being send to the Site Admin. When the member pays a little member price the member login details are made by the Site Admin and send to the member. The member can log into the secured part of the website.

    What I need to do is letting the member change his/her profile details with some kind of front-editor. The member can only change that profilepage.

    How can / should I do this and what front-editors are available?
    Any help will be very welcome.

      The Login extra comes with a snippet for users to edit their profiles.

          What should I do?
          (This is kinda new for me.)

          The member/profile fields shown on the memberspage are custom TV's filled on the member page and not the fields from the System Users.. I need the member to edit these.

          Is it possible to change them with hooks or something like that?
          or do I need to add fields to the System Users and show these on the member/profile page?
          I rather don't choose to do that last option.

            Ah. That's another story. Check out BobRay's News Publisher; you should be able to customize its forms to just handle the TVs you want them to be able to edit.

            Really, the MODX user's extended fields would be a better way to go. That's what they are for.
            http://rtfm.modx.com/revolution/2.x/administering-your-site/security/users#Users-UsingExtendedFields

            The Login package's UpdateProfile snippet has properties to use extended fields, and which ones to allow or disallow.

                Susan or someone else,

                Thinking about the News Publisher and its options:
                I think it will be very difficult to let an user only edit its own page..
                Then this needs to be a new Group for every user?

                If this is so I have no other choice to use the extended fields way and move all info/custom TV's to the userfields sad

                I finding it very hard to understand the whole user system and its policy's

                  I have a question, I'm still a rookie at Revolution:

                  When I use the "users extended fields" way, the user would be able to edit its own profile.
                  But how can I list all users in a overview page, and when you click on the user, is it possible to see a detailpage of all the extended fields of that user?

                  Do I need to use Personalize for that or something, some advice will be very welcome.

                    Very out of the blue but:

                    you could write a plugin that (on register form submission) creates a new (inactive) user, preferably with the exiting modx processor to create a new user, so you don't have to do the whole validation etc. like:

                    // $attributes are your form fields from the register form...
                    $response = $modx->runProcessor('security/user/create', array(
                    			'username' => $attributes['username'],
                    			'email' => $attributes['email'],
                    			'fullname' => $attributes['fullname'],
                    			'website' => $attributes['link'],
                    			'active' => 0, // set the user to inactive on creation
                    			'sudo' => 0,
                    			'blocked' => 0,
                    			'class_key' => 'modUser',
                    			'passwordnotifymethod' => 's',
                    			'passwordgenmethod' => 'spec',
                    			'specifiedpassword' => $attributes['password'],
                    			'confirmpassword' => $attributes['confirmpassword'],
                    		));

                    then when the user payed, the admin could just set the active checkbox to checked...

                    as there is an active user now, that should be able to edit his profile, I guess you'd have a login page where the user can login with his credentials?

                    he can do that and then has some kind of link for editing his profile. That link points to a resource where you would put the [[!UpdateProfile]] snippet call...no?

                      Thanks Exside, that would be a very good idea.
                      I might contact you (if the client says go) to help me out (payed).
