I'm trying to get GoogleSiteMap working on my 2.2.14 site and getting an error on the web end after I navigate to the mydomain.com/sitemap.xml file.
error on line 1 at column 9: XML declaration allowed only at the start of the document
I've titled my document: sitemap.xml
Set Content Type to: XML
Set template to (empty) — reads "0" in the field.
Published it. Hid from Menus.
Resource alias set to: sitemap
Resource Type set to: Document
Inserted the call in the content region [[!GoogleSiteMap]]
Any ideas what might be going wrong?
I have FURLs set to YES, and set up the .htaccess. FURLs are working fine
I've tried literally typing the suffix in my alias field for the resource. So instead of sitemap I have sitemap.xml
Then when I navigated to the page, an old home page for the site appeared and I have no idea where that came from. It's like a default 404 page, but I'm pretty sure that I have deleted all previous site html files from the server.

Solved!
I had TinyMCE on and p tags were surrounding my snippet call. All seems to be working fine now. Duh!
