How to reconfigure or re-setup the modx project in my localhost

Hi All,

We have a site that is running perfectly in live that was built based on MODX. THe problem is the programmer is already quit from the job and my boss wants me to enhance it. The problem is the previous programmer only left me with the source code, and without any documentation about how to install modx in my localhost.

So i downloaded and played a little bit with the original MODX cms. and it runs perfectly in my site.

The problem occurs when i want to implement my boss site to my localhost and makes it running perfectly.

When i install the original MODX cms, i have to do the installation process, while for my boss site, i just copy paste to my localhost. And since the config.inc.php is not there, i copy and paste my previous config.inc.php from my original modx site to my boss site

and while i trying to make it running, i have several obstacle while i'm at it.

1. I need to edit and give a comment mark (double slash //) to few cache, in order to make it display the front end site (not the manager site)
the files are: 28.include.cache.php and 6.include.cache.php with the error warning like something below:

2. I need to edit another cache to adjust the site_url value, previously the site_url is livesite and now i have to change it to mysite. In file : /var/www/mysite/core/cache/context_settings/context.cache.php , line 35

and after that, i can display mysite in my localhost. but then again, when i want to try to add a new document in mysite/manager, it only gives me a loading bar without any progress.

HELP!! i think MODX is a great cms, but somehow i feel very desperate just only to configure it to running. i havent event consider my self to modify some features in it. Is there a correct way that can help me to reconfigure the live site into my localhost correctly?

Try following the instructions here if you have FTP and Database access you should be fine.
