ppbMediaManager is a simple solution for handling media content (pdf, videos, links, galleries) in MODX.

It links resources that are not related to each other in a parent/child relationship.

The plugin comes along with a simple and easy to understand interface. It is highly flexible and can be easily extended.

For more information watch this video:

At this time the plugin is not in public beta.

Update: I have been asked a couple of questions about this video. Let's clarify some things:

      1. No, the gallery shown in the video is NOT part of the plugin. It is MoreGallery by modmore: https://www.modmore.com/extras/moregallery/?via=78. It is simply awesome and I recommend it as the best gallery solution I have seen so far. It is not free, but it saves tons of time.

Yes, the gallery overview in the media tab looks like modmore's gallery cmp. This is intended, because I'm using it in this project and I want to have sound UI experience. Changing the layout of the media tab can by easily done.

      2. No, media resources are not a new resource type. You can use any kind of resource type as a media resource. Any media resources is just an ordinary resource somewhere located in the tree. You can use template, tvs and form customization to give them a unique look and feel. Everything you need to do that already comes with modx.

      3. For simplicity I'm using 3 parent containers (galleries, pdf, videos) and drop all media resources. This makes it faster to find them with snippets and also easier to maintain.

      4. For easier maintenance I'm using collections or grid class key for media containers. As a client will most likely never need to see the parent resources, it doesn't really matter where they are located or if they are even visible to your client.

      4. What you do with your media resources is up to you. You can use getResources, pdotools or any other type of tool suitable for grabbing content. On the client side I'm locking for a solution which can handle drag and drop of snippets and chunks inside a rich text editor.

Just click a button, enter the id of your media resources add some parameters and hit ok.

If I don't find one, I'll create my own.

If you have content blocks my mode more it will be dead simple to accomplish this, but it should also be possible with redactor, ckeditor or even tinymce.

      5. All functionality shown in the video is stuffed into a single plugin. At the moment it is not publicly available, but you can drop me a line if you are interested in a private beta.
