MIGXdb Nested - New Item field prepopulate

When creating a new item from within a nested MIGXdb (Parent MIGXdb with a child MIGXdb which I want to add a record to), does the new record window have anyway of pulling info from the parent MIGXdb?

When I save/edit, the parent id field gets filled properly, but what I am looking for is to prepopulate that field when a new record is added. Currently, a new record window just shows a blank field, where an update window shows it with the parent id as expected.

shouldn't the line_id be set automatically, without selecting it by a listbox, because its in a child-grid?

it *SHOULD* but it is not on a new record. Attaching screen shots of a new record window.

I tried to put in a text field to test if the id was being applied, but it was blank. When the form is submitted, the value is added just not when the window is opened.

I need a list box since there is a requirement of moving a product between product lines. I had assumed on a new record window, the parent configs would be populated automatically in any matching fields (like a field connected to the line_id field, which has an aggregate relationship in the Product table to the Product Line table).

This was the info, I was missing.
Otherwise, you could simply set the join-alias - configuration to: 'ProductLine' and set check_resource to yes

what about not having this listbox and let the product_line set automatically and have another standalone grid, just for moving products to other product-lines, or having this listbox only, when editing, not when creating a new one?

I am fine with only presenting the listbox when updating. I assume this is set in the updatewindow.tpl? I am unsure how MIGX sees a new record window versus a update window. But my bigger concern is just getting the line_id/ProductLine_id being read by the window (since I need to use that value create a color dropdown using only records that have the ProductLine_id in THEIR line_id field).

you could hide the product-line - listbox on a new product with the new field-config:

restrictive condition:

[[+id:is=``:then=`1`:else=`0`]]

So on a new record, would the [[+line_id]] be the placeholder for the parent id if I wanted to pass it to an @EVAL snippet binding?
