After trying multiple uninstall/re-installs of Wayfinder (to no avail), I then:
- changed the permission of the /core/model/modx directory to PHP-writeable
- manually emptied the /core/cache folder
After that, I just re-installed it and it's working now. I can't even begin to think how the problem fixed itself.
