I;m in the process of moving a site from one host to another.

Its up and running on the new host Amazon EC2 Apache2 Ubuntu.

Just when I thought everything was working well, I noticed the files and directories are not showing up on the file tree. I cleared cache, permissions, sessions, etc. logged out/in and tried new browser.

I tried updating the permissions on the connectors directory (and recursive as well) to 755 & 777, (files 644 & 777) but no luck.

When I click on the file browser (as if to upload a file) and I see the directories listed, but no files within them. Very strange.

When I right click on the media folder (in file tree) it lets me create a new directory and even upload files, but it is not displayed. I can only tell the file/folder is there when I check using filezilla.

The only error I get in manager is on this call: (using FF Firebug)
    "NetworkError: 500 Internal Server Error - http://dev.mydomain.com/connectors/browser/directory.php?action=getList&id=/"

I see those files through FTP (filezilla), I've changed permissions multiple times but still get this error. I assume this is what is preventing me from seeing any files.

I have the default media sources (Filesystem).
    No custom manager or core.

    /var/www/html/ is root

Any thoughts or has anyone run into this issue before?

EDIT: Added screen shot. [ed. note: dev7apps last edited this post 12 years, 6 months ago.]

Generally 500 errors are caused my incorrect permissions and/or .htaccess problems. Could you tell us more about your server configuration?

        Yes.
        PHP Version 5.3.28
        Apache/2.2.26 (Amazon)
        /var/www/html/
        MySQL 5.5.34
        x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu

Currently all folders have permissions of 755
All Files have permission of 644
my "user" is the owner of all folders and files in web root

During the move, I updated all the paths on the core.config.inc to the new root and double checked it. Also made sure they all ended with "/"

Its very add that from the modx file tree and browser I can add folders and new files. I just can;t see them in the file tree. In the browser I see the folder, but they all appear empty even in folders where I know I have images.

It was previously rev0 2.2.10 and I upgradeded during the move.

Almost sounds like a permission got "adjusted" during the move or the upgrade.

It must be. If only I knew how to resolve it.

Funny thing just happened. The example files I uploaded through the manager file browser (even though I could not see them while in the manager)... I tried to delete them thorugh ftp (filezilla), but it gives me a permission denied.

So if my user account has ownership of all files and folders in /var/www/html/ I could rename or delete any other modx file, except a file that was created or uploaded my modx.

Does that trigger any thoughts about how or what permissions I might need to change?

I am trying to re=install 2.2.13 right now to see what happens

Unable to get this working. I;m sure it permissions issue. I'm going to do a clean install then import my old site using themepackager and replace all content. Will post what the outcome is.

So ultimately this worked for me.

                Installed New Clean 2.2.13 Revo
Exported All resources, snippets, chunks templates, and assets dir from old site using ThemePackager.
Installed Old site package theme and replaced contents (override setting in theme packager)
I noticed that some resource id's were off (some where increment or decremented by 1) so not all links would work.
No users or ACL's or resource groups were imported either.
So I replaced the following new tables with the tables from the old site:

                • modx_site_content
                • modx_site_templates
                • modx_site_tmplvars
                • modx_site_tmplvar_access
                • modx_site_tmplvar_contentvalues
                • modx_site_tmplvar_templates
                • modx_users
                • modx_user*
                • modx_dashboard*
                • modx_access*
                • modx_content_type
                • modx_membergroups
                • modx_membergroup*

Based on what I have created on the old site, this was all that I needed to copy over plus the custom tables which I had to create new schemas for.

Hope this helps someone else smiley
