I just had a quick question/thought. I wanted to include various social networking components to my ModX site like a "Friends" list or to give my users the ability to create common spaces that other users could visit ("Group pages"). Is this functionality available in Modx or are there certain independent open source project "add-ons" that I can tack on to my ModX installation to enable more robust user interaction with the site?
I checked out this thing called "Elgg" but it was a mess; I want to retain the level of customization I can have on ModX but just add certain components that can increase functionality. Any thoughts on the issue or the issue of resources regarding social networking components in general?

Nothing that I know of, but you might want to check WLPE. By doing some PHP coding, you could add a "Add to Your Friends" link when the userlist is displayed (which WLPE does very nicely), and the same for your other things.
IIRC, 0.9.7 is using WLPE (last time I checked the SVN/whatever it’s called).
