    hey there!

    following situation:

i developed my site locally. at some point i installed modx on my server for developing purposes. this way people from the forum (a big thumbs up at this point) could help me build the templates ’n’ stuff. so basically the online version is a mess. my local version is now clean and is working fine. is there a way to upload and replace the whole thing or do i have to create all the templates, chunks, documents again?

    thanks a lot!

Assuming that they both are the same version og MODx just upload all the supporting files (images, documents, snippets, plug-ins) you used to develop on your local version. Then export the database and import it to the new location.

All of the template and chunk info is all in the database so by importing it to the new location you will have all the site structure intact.

Remember to make backups. And make sure that both databases are using the same charset/collation settings.

Be sure to select "Drop Table" when you export the database content. That way, the local stuff will completely replace the remote. You’ll probably have to do an Update install when you’re done (and to do that, you’ll have to re-upload the install directory if it’s been deleted on the remote site.)
