    Hi

I have been asked by a client to make a community platform there groups can share files, pictures, calenders and alike. I prefer to use Modx Revo for the project, but can't find any user and group management that seems to fit the job.

Does anyone knows of similar project? Extras fitting for the task? Previous experiences?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Erland

This comes up from time to time. Usually a mix of add-ons, like the Login snippets (Register, Profile, etc) and NewsPublisher (which is a front-end resource creating and editing tool, useful for more than just news or blog articles).

It can be done but it can be a little complicated based on your knowledge of MODX ACLs.

I've managed to accomplish this with small portals with 2 or 3 user groups, it can get much more complex when you don't know how many groups you will end up with or how they can interact with each other.

Everything is done via the front end in my case none of my users have access to the manager this ensures the portal uses the UX I design for it and prevents users from breaking stuff.

Extras that I have used to accomplish this are:

          1. Login and all its snippets
          2. DefaultUserGroup
          3. DefaultResourceGroup
          4. Newspublisher

You just need to understand how permissions work in MODX, once you do you are 75% done.

          Good luck.
