As the subject states, sorting the document tree using the relevant controls doesn’t work anymore for some reason. It wasn’t always the case for this install but I could probably trace it back to changing the FCKeditor files so it sorted the resource browser alphabetically. However, even changing these back to normal (to the point of even dumping the old "manager" directory and putting up a new one with the right "config.inc.php" file in place), it still doesn’t sort.

This somehow affects the front end too. For whatever reason, the docs always sort by creation date and not menu index (or any other that I try) as set using WayFinder.

    Help?

Yep, 5.0.51a. Is this a "well then your problem is ...", I hope so.

It’s not great news... the problem is your version of MySQL. This is a known bug in that version of MySQL, and the best solution is an upgrade of your MySQL.

Damn. Is there anymore documentation on this regarding MODx? I just hope this doesn’t actually affect sorting everywhere (WayFinder, Ditto), I still need to look into that but I’m guessing these would be affected too.

I just had a look through a bunch of other MODx sites I’ve done being hosted at the same place and you’re right, they all suffer from at least document-tree unsortable-ness, still unsure about WayFinder/Ditto etc.

This has nothing to do with MODx and will likely affect sorting everywhere; as we said, the version of MySQL you have updated to is broken, plain and simple. Any query that uses a group by and sort by on the same column will not work properly. MODx will not be changing the core queries that rely on these kinds of statements, so you likely need to convince your host that MySQL needs to be downgraded to a more stable release.

Again, MySQL 5.0.51 is broken and MODx does not support it’s use.
