Any updates on the rescheduled Google Hangout? I know the first one before Christmas ran into technical problems with max attendee numbers and was to be held earlier this year.
Would love to hear about 2.3 developments, Discuss 2 and anything else at all MODX related.
Ideally it should also be recorded for anyone that can't dial in.

      Hey Peter,

Busyness got the best of us early this year with much going on. We should reschedule this soon. We'll get it done right this time. I'll get back on this, early next week.

        Hi Jay
Can't wait. Looking forward to it. One of the other CMS which we use has a weekly chat (text based). Its a great community builder.

Certainly having a connection between the the people at a CMS and the community beyond the forums and the once-in-a-blue-moon events is really powerful. I'd like to do some form of web meetup that is easy to organize and run. My catastrophic failure with Google Hangouts left me gunshy. Text forum even in real time is a little too much like IRC or twitter chats; not everyone gets or feels welcome. I'll make it happen.

Looks like it'll be a while.

Is this something the community could host on a more regular basis? I guess it depends on what people want to hear about, but a rundown of recent commits on github, discussing recent announcements etc, that should be something the community could run?

Recent commits would be great, but what I really would like to know is what is being worked on. Get a sense of direction and progress.

I think it could be largely community driven, but the participation of some of the core staff would, IMO, be required if it shouldn't all be retrospective.

2.3 - what's a reasonable expected date? It doesn't have to be a date. What quarter of which year.

3.0 - what's on the roadmap etc etc. how are resources going to be handled. Will MIGX type TVs be native. Will fields, templates and resources be uncoupled. What kind of upgradeability can we expect. Will there be in manager updating. Will there be a native ecommerce add on. Etcetera etc

Discuss 2 - same qs as above re. dates, functionality, themeing

Other general news modx-y from the core team themselves.

We need to hear more chatter from MODX FM.

Not just chatter, accurate chatter that means something. There a lot of good ideas, and there have been for a long time - I would hate for regular Hangouts to be about "good ideas that never get implemented".

The product is open source so "what's being worked on" and "progress" are public things, and the community could handle reporting on that.

My feeling is that a lot of things are being kept in the LLC in a "we will reveal it when done" style, which I think is a shame since community driven development in many ways are dependent on a steady stream of information. Maybe it's just me not paying enough attention to the right channels, but if you take modx 3 as an example I have only seen a few public announcements on whats happening. And for me it really isn't about knowing dates or deadlines but a lot more about knowing (and having a say about) direction.

You are of course right when it comes to things we can follow on github, like the beta milestone for 2.3 https://github.com/modxcms/revolution/issues?milestone=43&state=open - but even with those it can be hard to tell if they are being worked on or not (since most have been there for a while).
