Just took a quick look at QuickEdit. Is there no way I can allow a web user group to create articles in their own blog page - without throwing them into the manager with 30 menus and 200 icons? It would only take a "new" button in the QuickEdit controls (create under parent doc) or a new menu with allowed parent-docs to create docs in.

Maybe there is a plugin? Maybe I’m blind and can’t see it in the menu? cool

Wow, that was quick! Thanks smiley

Is it compatible with 0.9.6? (It says 0.9.2.1) Also, will it create normal docs that can be listed on the blog page with Ditto?

          Thanks ganeshXL, however

          1. The blog works, just need to enable web users to create docs without having to go into the Manager. Surely the default content doesn’t do that?
          2. I wanted to learn MODx from the ground up, so everything on the site was installed manually by me.

Maybe I could shove those two "pages" (chunks?) on the NewsManager download page in the sidebar?

Maybe I should just "install and try"? No risk of messing things up with this 0.9.2.1 addon?

Gut it does. Once logged in as admin web user you get access to a new menu item Add Post in the blog sub menu that opens up a form where you can publish a new post with NewsPublisher snippet.

I won’t make all editors admins... but I will look into how to set a custom role for a web user.

Web Users log in to the front end via a log in page ( on a sample content install the page id = 4 ) and can access the add blog page etc.
Manager Users log in to the back end via http://your-domain.com/manager/ and have access to the manager features

Oh, I thought being logged in as admin in the manager gave me admin permissions as a web user also, since I saw the QuickEdit bar.

Read the docs - and for the life of me I can’t figure out how to assign a !@$%&# role to a user. I’ve followed this: http://modxcms.com/manager-roles-groups.html

Might have missed something, but there sure is no way to add a user to a role or a role to a user in the manager. Probably some intricate multistep solution. I would have loved it if any of the groups/roles etc was, you know, clickable.

You assign the !@$%&# role to a user when you add/edit a user; it’s a simple drop-down on the main !@$%&# tab. tongue

Except there is no such drop-down for web users, since they can’t have roles. This is not obvious information, and the way I found it out was on IRC (thanks opengeek!)

I’m about done with this. Will installing the 0.9.2.1-compatible NewsManager addon on MODx 0.9.6 screw things up?
