I have a site for a church that wants a prayer request form with a few security checks and balances. I was trying to decide if it would have to be a custom snippet or if the MODx framework could handle all the logic.
The form needs to have these features.
- 5 fields of data with each submission:
[li]Submitted by (Name)
- Email
- Phone
- Pray for (Name)
- Prayer Request Description.
[/li]
[li]All fields should require data except maybe the phone number.[/li]
[li]After a submission, the page would redirect to a page confirming a successful submission and explaining about a validation email that is being sent.[/li]
[li]A email with a "click here to validate" link would be sent out.[/li]
[li]A time stamp for each submission should also be recorded.[/li]
[li]After the email address is validated, another email would be sent to the "prayer request manager" (web user level account) to look over and edit the submission for clarity, spelling, grammar, etc and then approve (or publish) the submission.[/li]
[li]An email newsletter with a compiled list of the requests can be sent sent out to a subscriber group, initiated by a "prayer request manager". Or possibly scheduled with a timer including options like once per day, twice per day, every 5,7,10 posts, etc.[/li]
[li]When an email is sent out, the included prayer requests would get archived so that only new requests from that point forward get included in each new email[/li]
[li]Users who are logged-in with a MODx account and have a status of "member" (as opposed to simply "registered" status) can have permission to also see a live web page version of the requests that have been published. Including access to the archive.[/li]
[li]Users who are logged-in with a "member" status can also subscribe or unsubscribe to the daily email of the prayer requests[/li]
[li]The list emails should automatically include an unsubscribe link at the bottom to automatically unsubscribe a recipient from that list[/li]
For icing on the cake it would be nice if the "Pray for Name" field could use a bit of Ajax and pull from a list of pre submitted names to suggest auto fill data. That way entries about the same person or event, which might be an update from a previous entry, could be sorted and grouped together and displayed easily.
I figured Ditto and Reflect could handle some of the display and archiving features, but I’m not sure how to handle
- sending out an email validation on every post
- displaying the submissions for publishing approval
- allowing users to subscribe/unsubscribe from the email list
- or the actual sending of the email
It would be nice if all the management could be done from the front end including most of the tasks given to the the "prayer request manager".
