Media Source baseUrl

Can't quite figure this one out.

I'm running Revo 2.2.12-pl (I know about the SQL injection ... I will update soon) with FURLs and I added a new File System Media Source with the a baseUrl = 'media/' and baseUrlRelative = 'Yes'. Problem is I can't access it via http://example.com/media/images/example.jpg (I'm just redirected to the site start page).

Is my understanding of a Media Source's baseUrl property correct in that it can simply be accessed via the correct URL?

I've stepped through the code a bit and can't see where it ever actually checks the URL against the Media Sources. I just get redirected to the 'error_page' because a resource with the alias 'media/' simply does not exist.

You should only get redirected, when the file doesn't exist.
Does this file exist and permissions are correct, is it viewable by the publics?

The file does exist and the permissions are correct. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "is it viewable by the publics?"

The Media Source shows up correctly in the Manager UI and I can browse the directory but just can't quite get the baseUrl property figured out

Like I said, stepping through the flow (from index.php) of I can't see where it ever checks to see if the current request matches a Media Source's baseUrl.
