I've exported the Wordpress .xml from the previous WP site. I then go into Articles and, using the built in Import tool, import the post content over. All looks great so far. But upon further inspection, all of the images are still hard linked to the WP site "oldWPsite.org/wp-content/uploads/....". To further complicate things, the newly imported post content is viewable on the frontend, but the Content area within each posts backend is completely blank and inputting ANY content into this field replaces the post content on the frontend... am I the only one?
Any Articles guru that can shed some light here?
The import tool doesn't have an option for altering the location of images, since images may be external and located somewhere other than the local site. You should be able to upload the "wp-content" folder to the root for images to be placed. Otherwise, you could do a find and replace on the xml export file.
I've had the same issue on occasion where content is not displaying in the backend, at least on some pages. I'm not 100% sure, though I suspect there could be some issues with database collation compatibility. A funky character could throw the database off. I'm not sure how or why, though it could be something else. Possibly try disabling any rich-text editors to debug. Also, be sure to look in your phpmyadmin to see if you can find any weird issues there.
