    Hi All,

New to the forum and MODX having just had a company website created for us using the platform.

All seems good so far, but I'm having a recurring issue when trying to edit page content. Changes made in the standard edit window seem to save OK, but when using the HTML edit window, changes are not always saved (more times not to be honest).

Is there something I'm missing or likely to be doing wrong here?

It's the only issue I've had so far, but it's now at that laptop out of the window stage of frustration :-(

Thanks for any help you can give.

    Nick

To clarify, when you edit with the rich text editor (in MIGX), the changes save fine. But using the html edit pop up (triggered by button/icon, not the toggle checkbox at the bottom of the content field) your edits don't save?

Also, this is a MIGX grid, right? Not the content area of a resource. Are you clicking done, or close? And then, are you saving the resource (page) by using the save button at the top after clicking done?

What kind of stuff isn't saving? Any particular kind of html elements or tags?

What rich text editor is installed and activated? (if you know)

      Oh, and welcome!

        Hi Frogabog,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Yes, using the rich text editor, I can make changes at will and save them using the SAVE button top right.

Invoking the HTML editor using the icon on the rich text editor brings up the pop-up window. I make the edits, then click DONE, then click SAVE top right. This is where the edits are lost.

I'm editing the content area of a resource (page). HTML edits include; table width values and alignments amongst others.

I'm afraid I don't know which rich text editor is installed. Does this make a difference and is there a way I can check this?

        Thanks again

            Hi Bruno,

Apologies, should ahve provided this detail in my initial post...

            MODX Revolution
            MODX Revolution 2.2.13-pl (traditional)

For MIGX, I'm not sure where you find the version number...?

            Thanks,

A work around for this is to make the HTML edits, then click done and then make a minor change in the normal editor view. So for example enter an empty space. Now the changes should save using the Save button.

I think this issue only effects older versions of MIGX.

                  Hi Benny B

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try tonight and see if it gets around the issue. It may account for the times when the changes have saved in the past.

Time for a total newbie question....is the version of MIGX determined by the way the website is created? I would have assumed being a web interface, you automatically are using the current version, but this doesn't sound the case?

                  Thanks,
                  Nick

                    Hi Nick,

Extras are normally downloaded and installed into modx as and when they are needed. So you if you've updated modx to the latest version it doesn't mean that the extra installed will be the latest one.

I see your using 2.2.13 and it's a new site so it's likely migx will be a fairly recent release, unless the site was only update due to the recent security path announcement.

If you go to the following manager page
                    System >> Package Management

You should then see all you're extras listed along with the version number and an update button if available. I think the current migx release is 2.6.7

                    Ben

                      Hi Ben,

Firstly, just been editing HTML and your tip to make a small edit (space/backspace) back in the rich text editor before saving is working every time! THANKS That makes life a lot easier smiley

Thanks also for the detail on versions. The site was developed for us in late 2012, but I'm still learning my way with editing content and how the site is structured.

                      Thanks
                      Nick
