Forum for ModX?

Hi.

First of all I am new to this forum and I'm from Germany so forgive me any mistakes I make, please.

I'm looking for a forum which I can use with ModX. I asked around the German forum but they told me that the current Discuss 1.2 version is bad and I should not use it. That's why I asked [email protected] if there will be the 2.0 version anytime soon. That is the answer:

Discuss 2 is available only through GitHub and at this time has no documentation. I cannot answer whether or not you can upgrade with confidence, however, my understanding is that it is supposed to be upgradable. We have not yet made it into a package, I would guess you'd need to run the build process in order to have an installable transport package. We do not have any scheduled plans to release Discuss 2 at this time, however, it's important and we'll surely get to it sometime soon. You may wish to ask around in the MODX Forums for people who may have tried it out.

Is there anyone that already uses version 2.0? And can someone give me a tutorial how to install the version from GitHub? Or is it recommendable to use VanillaForums or something like that?

I would look for a 3rd party provider, e.g. vbulletin. It's not free, but you factor in the headaches and cold-sweats trying to troubleshoot some of the "free" solutions, they're not free either.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy a forums license and apart from that I want to go with a open source forum. So, how about Discuss 2.0? Is there anyone that already uses version 2.0? And can someone give me a tutorial how to install the version from GitHub? Or is it recommendable to use VanillaForums or something like that?
