There's probably mention of this somewhere here, but I can't find it with the horribly inadequate search feature on this forum.

If I create a new article and save it, the URL to view it comes out like this:

    http://mysite.com/containeralias/aliasofarticle

If I then make ANY changes at all and save it, the URL turns into this:

    http://mysite.com/aliasofarticle

and when it's published it turns into:

    http://mysite.com/containeralias/[date or other stuff]/aliasofarticle

Why in the world does Articles delete the container part of the URL if an article is unpublished? It just doesn't make sense, and causes headaches for my clients working on unpublished artices, passing them around to other people to review, linking to other artices that may or may not be published yet, etc. Can't the URL just stay the same no matter whether an article is published or not, just like regular resources do?

Additionally, if I have two different Articles containers (like a blog and a news area), and have one article entered in each that happen to have the same title (creating the same alias by default), that would be no problem when they're published. But, if they're both unpublished, they end up having exactly the same URL, which doesn't make sense and shouldn't be allowed.

ALSO, if my URL format is this:
    %id/%alias/
then it's not dependent on the date published. I'd like to use the resource ID in the URL so that the URL will not be based on the date published and will therefore never change. Why shouldn't articles construct this full URL for the article when unpublished, since in this format it doesn't need to put the date published in there?

    It's maddening . . .
