We are doing some major revisions to our website, trying to make it more responsive and address some short comings in the original set up. Rather than making the changes on the live website (as there were many many changes) I duplicated the website on a test server to make and test all the changes. We are now ready to move it back to the live server.

I am wondering if it is possible to move just a couple of tables back over or if I need to do the entire database. If so which tables?

    The changes involved:
added some new chunks and TVs
    updated some existing chunks, snippets
    updated all templates
updated some TVs for most every document

There were no changes to any static files, assets or plug ins.

The default table names for all objects are listed here: http://bobsguides.com/modx-object-quick-reference.html#modNamespace.

That said, you'll want not only the chunk, snippet, TV, and template tables, you'll also need all of the intersect tables that might have changed (e.g., modTemplateVarResource, modTemplateVarTemplate, modElementPropertyset, etc.) and possibly the category closure and access permission tables. I would probably just do all the tables. It will actually save you time since the export and import of all tables in PhpMyAdmin will take less time than selecting the tables you want.

Be sure to back up the original DB before importing anything.

I would skip the modx_workspaces table.

Be sure to clear manually delete all files in the core/cache directory before and after the move. You may also want to run setup again after you've moved the tables.
