Articles Archive chunk logic?

Here's what I'm trying to achieve:
I want to archive blog posts by year and have all months fall under each year.
The year should not be link, but the months should be.

So the first thing that came to my mind is to edit the Group By Year Chunk. As I look at the Blog settings, the chunk is defined to ArchiveGroupByYear (see screenshot 1). So next up is simply edit this chunk, and remove the anchor tag (see screenshot 2). Then nothing happens.

Is this a bug? Or what am I missing?
