Answered How To Hide Resource Group

To make it easy for my backend users, I have create a resource group which hides all the backend resources except for one folder where they can add documents. The problem is when they edit/create a document, the resource group "Hide From IT Techs" shows up under the Resource Groups. Nothing says "Oh, you think we are stupid" more than a resource group call "Hide From IT Techs". Is there a way to hide resource groups from displaying in certain resources?

If you hide a resource group from a user group they should not be able to see it.

How did you "hide" the resource group are you using a role or restricting by user group?

I created a resource group and assigned it to all the pages the techs don't have access to and then did NOT assign that group to the techs. I looked for a way to restrict a user group from a resource group but I couldn't find a way to do that.

If you didn't assign the resource group to some other resource group, it's not really protected in any way, which would explain why they can see it.

Typically, you'd connect it to the Administrator group with a Resource Group Access ACL entry with a context of mgr.

Be sure to flush permissions and flush all sessions after making any changes and before testing.

Thanks BobRay. I believe that is what I did, but this one has the best of me. Didn't someone say you had a book? Where can I purchase it? Or, if you don't mind flying here to give a one day class ....

leemchildress you need to have have 2 resource groups one for admins and another for editors.

Drag all resources to the admin resource group and drag only the resources you want editors to see in the editors resource group.

You can check my ACL tutorial it might help you solve your issue or at least give you a better understanding how ACLs work.

Let me make sure though we are talking the same thing. Right now I am able to restrict the users. That is all working well. My issue is that the editors can see the resource group. What are you detailing is that I can hide the resource group?

You can hide all resources inside any resource group from a user group, when you say restrict what exactly do you mean?
