"The flavour this time is Kubuntu and Edubuntu," he said, adding the old questions about Linux’s suitability aren’t being asked any more. "They have also asked us to install the Joomla! and Drupal content systems on the server so students can create content," he added.

        Worthy question!

But until MODx can offer different installation packages for simple users ie one-click-site/blog, MODx is always going to over shadowed by the vast communities of people wanting a one-click-looks-the-same-as-everyone-else’s site. For me that’s not a bad thing as I hate Joomla! with a passion and I haven’t found anything that comes close to MODx, but then I don’t want a one-click-website.

So until MODx rolls out one-click packages for those that do want them, removed the etomite legacy code and the ability to handle zillions of pages I’m sure the marketing dept will be able to shout about it on their own soap box.

Well, the rollout was to schools for the kids to learn with, so it seems to me that they would want to minimize the "point-and-click" mentality. Anyway, it’s early days yet for MODx, wait until it’s been around in its final form for a year or two.

My thoughts exactly. It’s just a matter of time and then before you know MODx will be the new black!

UK schools are saturated in one-click applications like MS Office (way of budget I think), but you’ll always get those few who will break the mould. I should think Joomla! was picked due to the teacher(s) limited ability and clear lack of research. Choosing Joomla! and Drupal seems to me like a ’quick fix solution’ to get them an IT budget.

            Maybe MODx should approach them...
