    Hi,

I'm looking to turn Modx into my dream content management system. Particularly from a seo type perspective. So far I'm using it to rotate anchor texts for links in GetRelated, which I'm pretty tickled about having figured out (yes I'm a noob). The next thing I want to do is integrate it with a third party service - Serpbook - to let me know how my ranking is doing for that page. Here's documentation on the API (http://serpbook.com/serp/developers) and here's what I want to do.

    1) When I create the page, I enter the keyword phrase/phrases I'm targeting. So far I'm doing this with migx and it works great.
    2) I want it to submit those keywords to SerpBook
    3) I also want it to pull the ranking information for those keywords from SerpBook AND display it somewhere on the resource page in my Modx backend so I can view how well my page is doing for those keywords, which ones I might wish to give a nudge higher to, etc.

I'm not very good at programming, and I'm not asking anyone to do this for me. I'll hire someone to do it. But what I am asking is since a lot of you guys know Modx a heck of a lot better than I do, is this kind of integration possible on Modx? Can I have another tab on my Modx page for Rankings instead of TV's, content or whatever the other tabs are? Just wanting to know if it's possible - if so I'll probably try to find someone to do this. IF it's not possible to integrate stuff with Modx how I have in mind, that would also be awesome to know!

    Cheers!

Certainly. (well, there isn't a whole lot that you can't do with MODX). Without knowing much about it, I'd say your TV is fine for storing the keywords for any given page. You could use a snippet or a CMP for loading resource keywords into SerpBook, maybe even a plugin to do it automatically on resource save. Then you can have a snippet to fetch and display the data. If done properly the snippet can be used on a resource or used as a Manager Dashboard widget.

In cases like this, where actions require passcodes and keys, rather than have them hard-coded into my PHP code I tend to store them in files outside of the web root, then have my code include that file. This way you can have your passcodes and keys as variables in your code, but nobody else can access them.

        Hi,

I am liking the idea of using a CMP to show my aggregate rankings. That seems like a great idea so far. I am wondering about the snippet however. The only snippets I have used in Modx are ones to load/insert content into a page on my outside website. I want to pull/send data to and from serpbook via their API and have the information displayed only on a resource page. Is it possible to load snippets on resource pages? As in back end resource pages not ones the public can see? Sorry if this is confusing... if I can clarify anything please do let me know.

I think, I would use a plugin on the system-event OnDocFormSave to submit them

with a custom getlist - processor, its possible to show them with a MIGXdb - TV on each resource - manager - page
or within a MIGXdb - CMP or both
