    Hey.. I'm having trouble with th blur filter for phpthumbof.

    Firstly, I can run imagemagick's 'convert' command on this server and get expected results ala
    convert image.jpg -blur 6x6 output.jpg

    However, when I run phpthumbof options I get unexpected results. (running via runSnippet)

    This is the call I'm using
    $args = array(
        'input' => $coverImage,
        'options' => 'w='.$width.'&h='.$height.'&fltr[]=blur|1'
        );
    $resized = $modx->runSnippet('phpThumbOf', $args);
    return $resized;

    Where I have "&fltr[]=blur|1", I seem to get an image blurred by a radius of 1px (Expected)

    Where I have "&fltr[]=blur|5", I seem to get an image blurred by a radius of 5px (Expected)

    Where I have "&fltr[]=blur|10" (or any value > 5), I seem to get the same image as if I specified a radius of 5.(Unexpected)

    The phpthumb docs suggest a maximum radius of 25 (docs ctrl-f "blur").

    The demo page only demonstrates values up to 5 which it describes as "heavy blur" (demo ctrl-f "blur").

    This random blog page demonstrates values up to 10, which are far blurrier than I can achieve. (random blog post ctrl-f "blur")

    These calls are not generating anything in the modx error log.

    My image magick version number is mageMagick 6.6.0-4 2012-05-03 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org
    and the module version is 3.0.0RC1

    I can't think of any way to explore this issue further. Are there any other logs I can check on the server? The only way I can find to see imagemagick out put is to turn on debugging with command line options, but that doesn't help me because the command line options are working as expected.

    Thanks in advance for your help. [ed. note: Mr5o1 last edited this post 12 years, 7 months ago.]

      Gosh darn. I worked it out, the correct syntax is of course "&fltr[]=blur|5x4" or so. You can use the same syntax / operator as for the "convert" command. However the phpthumb docs don't mention that, they only show the "&fltr[]=blur|5" type syntax.
