    Try Hostgator. I have all of my servers there and MANY modx revo sites. They are amazing and cheap. Godaddy has issues which I will not go into here.

      Maybe so. Oddly, in some of this trouble shooting there are a lot of the files and folders that are 777
      But, the original install of MODx a long time ago what a complete nightmare. An I think at a certain point I just started changing permission to whatever would let the setup complete the install.

      Might be time to just dump myHosting. I've been at this since Thursday. Pretty worn out and beaten up. Frightening instances such as these that I am reminded about how much I don't know.

        Success!

        I have tech support install my previous backup of the config.inc.php into core/config. Did have to change permissions to 666. Other than that, the install went perfect. Yahoo.

          So now in the manager window, I do have the warning that the config is writeable. I've since changed it back to 644. Site still seems to be functioning OK.

            Transmit http://www.panic.com/transmit/ is supporting merge and works without problems.

              I've have to give that another look. It may have been CODA, that wouldn't work. I had received feedback from tech support. I believe they are both panic products. SSH is a real mixed bag. Thanks for the feedback confirming that Transit does indeed work.
