Really Simple Question Site Won't Update

Hi Everyone,
I have tried searching the doco but I think my question is so simple it may not be mentioned.
I didn't write our web page, we paid someone else to do it, I'm charged with the job of doing minor updates.

I Believe we are running Modx 2.2.8 but I'm not sure as the people who host the site re-badged the bit where the version number is normally found

I have the job of making minor updates to our pages using the CMS and the "Manager" logon.

I have found the pages I want to update and made the simple textual changes in the on screen editor and saved the changes. So far so good.

I have clicked the preview button and the changes are there, however the live site doesn't show my updates.
I'm sure this worked easily the last time I made changes months ago.

The published tick box is on. I even put a new Published Date/Time 10 minutes in the future.
Under the SITE menu I chose the Clear Cache option and that reported lots of success messages.
I have cleared my browser cache and tried different browsers and different workstations.

How come my updates don't appear to be published.
I must be missing something obvious.

Really Sorry about the multiple posts.
IE appeared to hang so I pushed the Post button again. (always blame Microsoft)

It doesn't look like there is an option for the posted to delete their own post.
Hopefully there is a moderator around to tidy this up and save my embarrassment.

The only explanation I can think of for what you're describing is some third-party cache (e.g., Varnish) installed on the server that needs to be cleared manually (or disabled).

Rule out the improbably and it must be the impossible.
Thanks for the reply but it was nothing so complicated.
The way our web page is structured, identical information is available from multiple links within the page. (pretty normal)
Our web designers in their ultimate wisdom duplicated the page rather than linking to one page.

I didn't realise this and updated one page and was viewing the other one on the public web page.

It's hard to get good help these days

We've all been there. Your message reminded me that I once spent an hour or two with a similar problem because the MODX install I was working on was connected to a different database than the one I was looking at in PhpMyAdmin.

Was the duplicated page possibly a symlink? Meaning, duplicated but when opened from the front end (as linked to) it opens the correct page instead.

The duplicated page, if a symlink, would have had a chain link icon next to it as opposed to a dog eared page icon.

I think the fact that I edited one page then accidentally looked at the other page in my public web site proves that they weren't linked in any fancy way.
As soon as I edited the other page in the CMS both pages were identical again on the public site.

In any case it's solved now. Just lazy coding.
