Using Ace Rich-text editor as TV input type

Sorry if this is very basic but I am new to Modx. I have created a TV for my template and am trying to set the input type so that I can use my rich text editor (Ace) as the input field for the TV. If I set the input field as rich text I just get a 1 line text field which isn't enough space. Likewise, if I set the editor as Textarea then thats all - I get a text area field without code highlighting or line-numbering and the textarea field is too small for my input which is a big chunk of html - there is no option in the drop down under input options for "html" as some tutorials suggest. You may need to set the which_editor in the system settings to ACE (I am not sure if it sets that value to it when installed like ckeditor or tinymce do).

the richtext input type is correct (html was probably deprecated as a redundant type I would image), so it just sounds like your system doesn't realize you want to use ACE as an RTE.

Thanks for your help Jason. I have tried setting the system settings to ACE (use_editor: yes, which_editor: Ace and which_element_editor: Ace) and still nothing shows. I think it must be a bug to be honest as I have spent a couple of hours searching for a solution and even other editors do not function - such as CodeMirror. It's a fresh install using the latest version of MODX rev

I am not sure if there is something in those code packages that doesn't allow it to render on a Resource page. Honestly I have only ever attempted to use ACE and CodeMirror as an editor on Elements, never as a TV or Content editor for a Resource.

I can't get any editor to work at all despite following every tip to the letter - it has to be a bug or a bad install.

In the resource settings tab, is rich text editor checked?
