I just wanted to add a post as I haven't found this issue anywhere and I think I managed to work it out for myself.
I added Recaptcha to a contact form but it didn't seem to work - it picked up the field not being filled in but still sent the message so it wasn't stopping the spam. Nowhere in the documentation does it say that you need to call the 'recaptcha' hook first otherwise everything else will get processed and sent before recaptcha fails. This may be logical and I may be being a retard but is there an argument for pointing this out in the documentation?!
